- Latte
- Mocha
- Umber
- Smoked oak
Why it’s in fashion
Pantone named Mocha Mousse its color of 2025, and brown carried into 2026 as the warm alternative to greige. Smoked oak gives the depth of a dark wood while staying matte and modern, and it hides wear.
Works best for
South- and west-facing apartments with plenty of light, and anyone who wants a home that feels like a hotel lounge.
Before you renovate
- Dark walls shrink a room with little light: keep umber to one feature wall and leave the rest a light latte.
- Smoked oak is darkened deep into the wood, so a scratch doesn’t show pale; ask for a matte oil finish rather than a glossy lacquer.
- Warm 2700 K bulbs make the browns look rich; cool light turns them muddy.
